Disclaimer

Important Note: Pet Treats are not Completely Risk-Free

Although incidents involving our treats are very rare, we do not claim they are entirely risk-free. Our bone products are not cooked, meaning they haven't calcified like cooked bones. However, similar to raw bones, they may still carry a minor choking risk, much like certain foods can for humans.

We strongly recommend supervising your dog while they enjoy our treats, understanding their chewing habits, and selecting treats that are appropriate for their size and eating style.

By purchasing our products, you acknowledge and accept this minimal risk and agree that Sunny Bites cannot be held responsible for any issues that may arise from feeding these treats to your pet.

Important Considerations:

Bone Products:

Our bone treats are dehydrated—not cooked—which means they haven’t calcified like cooked bones. Calcified (cooked) bones become hard and brittle, increasing the risk of breaking into sharp fragments or hard pieces that may cause blockages.

In contrast, dehydrated bones are less brittle and typically break down into crunchy pieces. While these fragments can be sharp, most dogs chew and digest them without any issues, which also makes them excellent for dental health.

That said, in rare cases, a dog may attempt to swallow a piece that is too large, potentially creating a choking hazard or causing digestive discomfort. We always recommend supervising your dog while they enjoy bone treats. Also ensure there is water close by.

Harder Treats:

Some of our treats are naturally firm and are generally safe for dogs with healthy teeth. However, if your dog has weakened teeth, cavities, or undetected hairline fractures, chewing hard treats may aggravate an existing issue or potentially cause further damage.

For example, a small, unnoticed fracture could result in a chip or a more serious break when chewing a harder treat. If you're unsure about your dog's dental health, we recommend choosing softer options or consulting your vet before offering hard treats.

Digestion issues:

Dogs sometimes struggle to digest certain treats, or they might process them more slowly than others. This is often because modern commercial dog foods are high in carbohydrates and non-meat proteins. These ingredients can actually interrupt natural stomach acidity and negatively impact digestion.

If a dog has trouble digesting a treat, they might regurgitate it. In other cases, the undigested treat could pass through their system and cause blockages or difficulty with bowel movements, though this usually resolves on its own.

If your dog is having these issues, we recommend reducing the size of the treat portions you give them or substitute with a more suitable sized treat - perhaps smaller. You might also consider introducing more meat-based proteins into their regular diet to help with digestion.

 

Shipping & Delivery

Order Processing Time

Processing time refers to the time it takes for us to prepare your order for delivery.

After your payment is authorised and verified, all orders are processed within the 1-2 business days prior to courier pick up. We will contact you for some reason if there are any delays, usually related to stock shortage, equipment malfunction, peak sale "busy" periods, supplier shortage or delays this may be up to max. 3 days.

Delivery Locations

  • Domestic: Australia-wide through Australia Post network.
  • Free shipping for orders over $120 in Australia only.
  • International: New Zealand through Australia Post and/or Sendle.

Delivery Rates and Delivery Estimates

We endeavour to to get your order to you as soon as possible. Once your order is placed, an estimated delivery time will be provided to you. Delivery times are estimates and commence from the date of dispatch from our facility, rather than date of order. 

You will be given an ETA at checkout depending on which shipping rate you select.

We ship from our facility in Geelong, Victoria AU.

Delivery times are to be used as a guide only and are subject to acceptance and approval of your order. Estimated arrival dates are not guaranteed. Weather, traffic delays and other unforeseen circumstances may impact delivery time.

Please Note:

  • Business day means Monday - Friday except holidays.
  • Orders are not delivered on Sundays and holidays.
  • Date of delivery may vary due to courier availability, back up staff availability, delivery location, method of delivery and the items ordered.
  • When placing your order, we consider these factors when calculating an Estimated Delivery Date.
  • Due to city-wide lockdowns, road detours, traffic delays, weather conditions, and other uncontrollable circumstances, packages to and from our facility in Moolap, Victoria may be delayed. We truly appreciate your patience during this time.
  • We will not be responsible for any wrong delivery address if you provide incorrect information.

Tracking Options

Sunny Bites aims to provide visibility and transparency throughout the dispatch and delivery process. Once your order is confirmed and dispatched, you will receive a notification via text or email informing you of your package leaving our facility and estimated delivery windows during the day when it may arrive.

Damages

If there's any damage to the packaging during the delivery, contact us immediately at hello@sunnybites.com.au

Missing or Lost Package

There are several reasons why a package gets lost or becomes a delivery exception. We've found that, more often than not, the package is in your premises obscured from view or with a neighbour. Sunny Bites politely requests that customers look in common courier hiding spots or within the vicinity of your front yard, reception desk (for apartment complex), or security box (gated communities).

Returns & Refunds

Changed your mind?

If you’ve had a change of heart, we’re happy to help. You can return any product within 14 days of receiving your order for a full refund —provided the item is unopened, unused, and in a resaleable condition. You’ll also need the confirmation email or proof of purchase.

Please note: Return shipping costs are your responsibility, as well as any shipping fees for replacement items.

To start a return, contact us at hello@sunnybites.com.au within 14 days of receiving your order. The product(s) must be returned to the address below within 30 days of the original purchase date.

Damages and issues 

Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Bugs & Insects

Our natural products are appealing to ants, and while we guarantee they are shipped ant-free, ants can sometimes enter packages if left unattended at your doorstep or home.

Please note that we do not offer refunds or accept returns due to ants, unless it is confirmed that the issue occurred during shipping. In such cases, the incident must be reported immediately upon delivery and the package must have been signed for.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer compensation for ant-related issues that occur after delivery, as this is beyond our control.

Ants are not harmful, and they typically scatter once disturbed. If needed, you can place the treat bag in the freezer briefly, then shake the ants to the bottom and remove them.

To help prevent this, we recommend using an ant deterrent or spray near where your parcels are delivered and where you store your dog treats.

A Note About Insects (e.g. Hide Beetles)

Our natural products can also occasionally attract insects such as the flying Hide Beetle, which are drawn in by scent. These beetles are capable of flying into your home and, over time, may chew through thin packaging—even more so if the bag has small perforations from sharp-edged treats. This is why we use durable 150μm bags.

Hide beetles can lay eggs that hatch within a few days. Their larvae (small, furry, dark insects) shed skins as they develop into beetles, a process that can take as little as 35 days.

To help prevent issues:

  • Always keep products sealed tightly.
  • Avoid storing treats in open or exposed areas.
  • Check your treats regularly.
  • If concerned, freeze the product for 48 hours to kill any eggs or larvae.

Due to the beetle life cycle, any infestation present before shipping would become obvious within a few weeks. As such, we are unable to offer support for hide beetle issues reported more than 30 days after dispatch.

Exchanges 

The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.

European Union 14 day cooling off period 

Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

Refunds 

We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

You have the right to ask for a repair, replacement or refund under the Australian Consumer Law consumer guarantees.
